Latvia: Road to Eurovision

Latvia is one of the youngest members of the Eurovision Song Contest, since its debut in 2000, the country has participated eighteen times and has won one time.

The first and last victory comes in 2002, when Marie N with the song I Wanna defeat Malta for only 12 points.

Last year Latvia was represented by Triana Park and the song Line, that failed to reach the final.

This year the country will be represented by Laura Rizzotto, a 23 year old singer, songwriter and pianist born in Brazil, to a Latvian father and a Brazilian mother of Portuguese descent.

She wrote her first song at the age of eleven and has published more than 100 original pieces since then.

The song “Funny Girl” won Supernova 2018, the Latvian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
