EU-Latin America. El Salvador hosts the 10th plenary session of the joint Euro-Latin American (EuroLat) Assembly, focusing on multirateral trade and joint cooperation in the fight against organised crime. Food price volatility, informal economy, lobbying, and aviation and research cooperation will also be discussed.
Migration. A Civil Liberties Committee delegation will visit Tunisia to foster Mediterranean cooperation in migration and border control. Search & rescue operations will be discussed, as well as detention centres and human rights, with Tunisian ministers, MPs, and civil society representatives. (Monday to Friday)
Environment in Poland. The ECJ has ordered an immediate halt to logging in the protected Białowieża forest. Following the Polish authorities’ refusal to abide by this ruling, a delegation of the Environment Committee is visiting Warsaw to meet the Environment secretary Jan Szyszko, NGOs, and Polish industrials and trade unionists. (Monday to Friday)
EU funds/Hungary. Budgetary Control Committee MEPs will visit Hungarian MPs, the State Audit Office, and civil society representatives. This Committee oversees funding of EU projects both in the member states and overseas. (Monday to Wednesday)
Myanmar mission cancelled. The EP Committee on International Trade has postponed sine die its planned visit to Myanmar following the killing, harassment, and rape of the Rohingya people. The EP has adopted recently a resolution demanding that this situation cease immediately.
President’s diary. EP President Antonio Tajani is visiting France on Thursday and Friday to meet Emmanuel Macron (President of France), Édouard Philippe (Prime Minister), and François de Rugy (Speaker of the National Assembly).
