Azerbaijan: Road to Eurovision

Azerbaijan is one of the youngest members of the Eurovision Song Contest. The country made its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, when it became an active member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), following the example of Armenia in 2006 and Georgia in 2007.

Azerbaijan since its debut has never missed the final and in 2011 won the edition by setting the record of the lowest average score for a winning song, 5.14 points per country.

This year, Azerbaijan will be represented by Aysel Mammadova, known professionally as Aisel (Aisel in Azerbaijani means “the path that leads you to the moon”).

Born from a family of musicians, she has been performing most of her life, in  fact she has released several singles, and has performed not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine, Israel, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Italy.

X my heart  is the song that Aisel will bring on the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest. Aisel said: “X My Heart was my favourite song from the first moment I heard it. The music gave me a positive, uplifting feeling while performing it, and it has a power that made me enjoy every second in the studio.”
