Cyprus: Road to Eurovision
Since its debut in 1981, Cyprus has participated thirtyfour times with three fifth places as best results for the country: in 1982 with Anna Vissi, in 1997 Hara & Andreas Constantinou and in 2004 with Lisa Andreas.
In the last edition Cyprus was represented by Hovig with the song Gravity, with not great success.
This year the country will be represented by Eleni Foureira, an Albanian singer and actress. When she was young, due to the civil war in the country, the family left Albania and settled in Greece. There she began pursuing music, learning how to play the guitar and later working in a theatre.
She started her solo career in 2010 with the release of her first album. Dubbed the ‘Queen of Pop‘, the singer has had several successes in both Greece, where she lives, and Cyprus.
Fuego, written by Alex Papaconstantinou, Geraldo Sandell, Anderz Wrethov, Viktor Svensson and Didrick, is the song that Eleni Foureria will sing in Lisbon.
