Russia: Road to Eurovision

Russia co-holds with Sweden the record for for the most top five finishes in the 21st century, exactly nine top five results.

Since its debut in 1994, Russia has participated twenty times, with three absences in 1998, 1999 and 2017 when the country withdrawn from the contest.

The country has won one time, in 2008 with Dima Bilan and the song Believe that achieved the first place with 272.

This year Russia will be represented by Julia Samoylova and the song I Won’t Break.

Julia is a Russian singer and songwriter. She rose to fame when she reached the final of the Russian version of X-Factor.

Julia was originally chosen to represent Russia in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Flame Is Burning. The country is honouring the commitment made to Julia last year and she is set to appear in the 2018 competition in Lisbon.
