Austria: Road to Eurovision

2018 will be the fifty-first time Austria competes in Eurovision Song Contest since its debut in 1957. The country is a veteran of the competition and has won twice, in 1966 with the song Merci Chérie by Udo Jürgens, and in 2014, with the song Rise Like a Phoenix by Conchita Wurst.

In the 63rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Austria will be represented by Cesár Sampson, Austrian singer, songwriter, and model.

His carreer starts in 2000 when, at the age of seventeen, he started touring the world as lead singer for some of Austria’s most internationally acclaimed alternative music acts: Kruder & Dorfmeister, Sofa Surfers and Louie Austen.

In December 2017, Austria’s broadcaster ORF revealed that Cesár would represent the country at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Nobody But You. “A song that on the one hand contains my soul and my story and, on the other, listeners will relate to” said Cesár Sampson.
