Israel: Road to Eurovision

Since its debut in 1973, Israel has participated forty times in the Eurovision Song Contest and has won the contest three times, including two consecutive wins.

The first victory comes in 1978 with Izhar Cohen & the Alphabeta and the song A-Ba-Ni-Bi. The second one come the following year, in 1979, with Gali Atari & Milk and Honey and the song Hallelujah. The third victory comes in 1998 with Dana International and the song Diva.

This year Israel will be represented by Netta a 25-year-old singer, winner of the HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion (‘The Next Star For Eurovision’) and the chance to represent Israel in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Toy.

Netta has an extensive background in music. She finished high school with excellence merit in extended music studies. She served as a singer in the Israeli Navy band and continued her musical training in that framework.

In 2016 Netta co-founded an improvisation singing ensemble called The Experiment, touring all over Israel and has been an active soloist for two years in the successful show group Gaberband.
